Ground Zero Museum Workshop
A Heartfelt Images & Artifacts Tour

How could we leave this Museum off the list? We can't! Ranked by TripAdvisor as the "3rd Most Popular Attraction in NYC," GZMW has daily 2-hour tours of Images & Artifacts from the "Recovery at Ground Zero." A non-graphic & kid-friendly Museum. A moving tribute in images and remnants to those that struggled many months to locate the missing victims of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks. After the introductory video, your personal tour guide walks you thru and points out the history behind images & artifacts, some of which can be picked up. The tour finishes up with the self-guided audio units that are programmed with 100 stories in French, English, Italian & Spanish. Known worldwide by the Media/Press as the "Biggest LITTLE Museum in New York" for it's tiny size but huge data/story content, the image collection was dubbed "Rare Photos" by the New York Times.

St. Paul's Chapel at Ground Zero
Take A Walk Into NYC History

If you like history, then no trip to NYC is complete without a visit to St. Paul's Chapel. Located on Broadway between Fulton and Vesey Streets in Lower Manhattan, St. Paul's was built on land granted by Queen Anne of Great Britain. It was built in 1766 and is Manhattan's oldest Church & public building in continuous use. The chapel survived the Great New York City Fire of 1776 when a quarter of New York City burned following the British capture of the city. George Washington worshipped here on Inauguration Day, April 30, 1789. Inside you can view the actual booth George prayed in. Yet again, the Church was miraculously saved from being destroyed by a large, flying, steel beam from the World Trade Center on 9/11, that instead hit an age old tree behind the Church, summarily pulling it out by it's roots, which are on display in the graveyard. In 2001-2, St. Paul's was closed to the public and served as the relief center for Ground Zero "Recovery" workers, who cherished it as a safe haven for food, warm clothing, supplies and sleep. There are exhibits on display, there is no admission fee and the non-profit Church has a nice gift area with books and remembrance items pertaining to 9/11. Simply walking into the Church will quickly fill you with emotions stemming from the World Trade Center attacks and former employees have reported over the years several spiritual sightings inside the Church. Call the Church for their Sunday prayer service schedule.

Wichcraft : Weekday Lunch
A Sandwich Service Unlike No Other

So, it's a weekday during your holiday in NYC and you want to eat lunch off the beaten path. You want a little treasure that isn't in the guidebook? 'Wichcraft is where you will find real New Yorkers treating themselves to a gourmet sandwich. Tom Colicchio, chef and owner of the Craft family of restaurants and head judge of Bravo’s Top Chef, founded ’wichcraft with partners Sisha Ortuzar and Jeffrey Zurofsky in 2003. The three had a long history of working together in fine dining restaurants such as Manhattan’s top-rated Gramercy Tavern and Craft, but this collaboration was decidedly more casual. They created ’wichcraft, a sandwich service like no other. Eat in or take it to go. We recommend the Chicken Breast & Grilled Mushrooms on Country Bread, the Roasted Turkey, Avocado & Bacon on Ciabatta Roll & the Grilled Gruyere Cheese & Carmelized Onions on Rye Bread. However, there is no bad sandwich on the menu. If you want to fly back home in style, get a few sandwiches to go and take them on the plane! (Yes, sandwiches ARE allowed thru airport security). There are a few locations in Manhattan, including midtown at 46th street & 5th Avenue.

St. Patrick's Cathedral on 5th Avenue
A Special Place to Visit

While her cornerstone was laid in 1858 and her doors swept open in 1879, it was over 150 years ago, when Archbishop John Hughes announced his inspired ambition to build the “new” Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. St. Patrick's Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of New York, Edward M. Egan. It is the largest decorated gothic-style Catholic Cathedral in the United States and has been recognized throughout its history as a center of Catholic life in this country. Though Saint Patrick's was built in Gothic style, its design is original and distinct. The Cathedral is noted for its purity of style, originality of design, harmony of proportions, beauty of material, and workmanship. It is existing proof that American architects and American artisans can hold their own with the architects and artisans of the Old World and that Catholics of America can raise sacred structures that captivate and cultivate the admiration of those who see it. St. Patrick's was the chosen site for numerous funeral services for New York City Firefighters and Police killed in action at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The Church is located on 51st Street & 5th Avenue.
